The Atlanta Hawks are now back on track after their fifth win in-a-row where they defeated a quality opponent in the Toronto Raptors 118-113 in overtime.
"We wanted to win this game really bad," point guard Jeff Teague said. "We've been playing well lately."
Jeff Teague led the team in scoring with 34 points while power forward Paul Millsap posted his first career triple double.
Injuries really seem to have hurt the Hawks this year. Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague, Gustavo Ayon, Pero Antic, and John Jenkins have all been hurt at some point of the season, but the most detrimental so far was the pectoral tear of center/forward Al Horford.
"We're not going to make any excuses," Millsap said. "We've just got to push forward and try to win some games."
There were also several injuries suffered in this game. While receiving four stitches for a right eye laceration, DeMarre Carroll had to leave in the first quarter, but later returned a period later. In the very last quarter, Hawks rookie guard Dennis Schroder was lost due to an ankle sprain and did not return.
The player of the game was 2014 all-star Paul Millsap who put up 19 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to earn his first ever triple double.
"I can't do it without the team," said Millsap on his triple-double. "They knocked down shots, especially for the assists. They gave me some good looks. I knocked down some shots. It's a great win overall. That's what we're out to get. We're out to win games."
After defeating the Charlotte Bobcats and now coming off of a win against the Toronto Raptors, the Hawks are finally streaking again. The current streak is five games, but they don't look to stop there considering they're not guaranteed a playoff spot, so winning games is a must if they want to make the post season.
