After a terrible four win season last year, the Atlanta Falcons look to rebound and solve most if not all of their problems this offseason, but have they done enough?
Last year, the offensive line for Atlanta left franchise Quarterback Matt Ryan running for his life, so the first day of free agency, offensive guard Jon Asamoah was signed to the roster. Now if the Falcons can get their hands on a center, they can then put Peter Konz back in his natural guard role and will most likely have Sam Baker and Mike Johnson starting at the tackles.
The Falcons have not had a notable special teams unit seems wide receiver Eric Weems left back in the 2011 off-season. To combat that problem, the Falcons added arguably the greatest kick/punt return specialist, Devin Hester, to a three-year deal.
The toughest decision as far was to let go of pro bowl free safety Thomas Decoud. The next man up on the depth chart at that position is young undrafted safety Zeke Motta, who has little to no experience when it comes to playing in an actual game. Free agents Ryan Clark, Michael Huff, Chris Clemons and Major Wright still remain unsigned. None of them would be an improvement at the position, but th Falcons still need somebody to fill that spot.
Also being signed on the first day of free agency were defensive linemen Paul Soliai and Tyson Jackson. Most Falcons' fan are still anticipating an even bigger move to be on the defensive line, which would be drafting former South Carolina Gamecock Jadeveon Clowney. Overall, the additions of Soliai and Jackson were good moves, but haven't been the only moves. The Falcons also re-signed defensive tackles Jonathan Babineaux, Corey Peters and Peria Jerry.
One of the latest moves was the signing of cornerback Javier Arenas. He will most likely see little playing time considering he would have to battle Desmond Trufant, Robert Alford and Robert McClain for a starting job.
