Bringing a lot of unneeded attention to the Atlanta Falcons during this current offseason and free agency, wide receiver Roddy White has done that in multiple instances already.
First, White made a bet with a Falcons fan on Twitter. White said if Mercer beat Duke (his favorite to win the 2014 NCAA tournament), He would buy the fan Falcons season tickets.
Mercer did in fact end up beat Duke, but despite being a multi-millionaire athlete, White did not 'pay up' right away saying that doing so wouldn't be fair to himself because the fan had 'nothing to lose.'
Eventually, after a load of criticism on Twitter, White decided to do the right thing and that was to pay up. And pay up he did. Instead of just buying the fan season tickets, he gave him a pair of season tickets, along with two Super Bowl tickets, a pregame pass to the Super Bowl and an day at the Falcons training camp as his 'guest.'
White released a statement on Twitter afterwards.
"To the parents on here that I am your kids role model let them know I am a man of my word because they actually do matter to me," White tweeted.
Now with that solved, there was silence once again, but it wasn't to long before White was involved in another incident.
Even more recently on Twitter, White put fans in a frenzy by saying that the Falcons were switching to a 3-4 defensive scheme, which would make sense considering the signings of defensive tackle Paul Soliai and defensive end Tyson Jackson, who are 3-4 specialists, but nevertheless the statement was inaccurate.
"We changed what we are calling the guys, but we are doing what we've done in the past," head coach Mike Smith told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday. "We are going to be very multiple."
Do us all a favor Roddy and just settle down.
